Organizing Ideas for the Weekend: Under the Kitchen Sink

Happy Friday!  Time for another organizing idea for your weekend!

A few weeks ago I showed you how I organized under my kitchen sink, but there are so many more creative ways to make the best use of this space.  So today I'm sharing some of my favourite organizing ideas for under the kitchen sink.

Each of the bloggers I'm featuring in today's post has several great organizing ideas they used under their sink, so below each picture I'll list what I love and how it can help you.  But if you click the links below each picture you can see close-up pictures and more details on each amazing idea.

I Heart Organizing
  • Slide-out garbage and/or recycling bins make good use of vertical space and make it easy to reach to the back
  • A caddy for cleaning supplies keeps everything together and it's so easy to carry it with you wherever you need it
  • A drawer unit or stacking drawers help maximize the vertical space and contain smaller items (especially helpful if you don't have very many drawers in your kitchen!)
  • How cute are those gloves clipped to the back of the cabinet door?  This is a great way to keep them easily accessible.

Simply Organized
  •  DIY garbage bag holders on the side of the cabinet make it so easy to get the bags when you need them and they keep them off the bottom of the cabinet (check out how she did this on her blog!)
  • Hanging bottles off the pipe also help keep them easily accessible and maximize the vertical space in the cabinet

Simply Organized
  • Same cabinet but the other side... see what's on the cabinet door?  That's a Martha Stewart wall organizer!  I would never have thought of using one under my kitchen sink but what a great idea!
  • This cupboard has a lot stored in it, despite having to work around that big garbage disposal.

Achieving Creative Order
  •  Love the tension rod on the left for hanging bottles (I've seen these going across the cabinet as well, but this way it's easier to work around the sink and the pipes)
  • A bag holder attached to the right side of the cabinet holds cleaning rags - very creative!
  • A long basket with a smaller stacking basket on top helps use all the space at the back of the cabinet and contain both tall items and small items in a narrow space
  • What a great idea to have a basket under the sink for dirty kitchen towels and rags!

Organizing Made Fun
  • Again, using the back of doors for a bag holder and a rack for cleaning supplies makes use of wasted space and keeps these things handy
  • Command hooks on the side of the cabinet make it easy to find brushes
  • A small basket hanging on a few screws on the side of the cabinet (top right) holds small items and makes use of the space beside the pipes
  • A slide-out basket (bottom right) makes it easy to reach the supplies at the back of the cabinet

I hope these pictures and links give you some more ideas to help you organize the cabinet under your sink this weekend!

If your under-the-sink cupboard is already pretty organized or you want some additional ideas of what you can organize this weekend, there's a tab at the top of this page called Weekend Ideas.  It has links to all my Organizing Ideas for the Weekend posts.
