Organizing Ideas for the Weekend: Summer Organizing Ideas

Happy Friday!  Time for another organizing idea for your weekend!

Summer has unofficially started!  My kids are in school until the end of June, but I know many of you are already in full summer mode with your kids home for the summer.  Either way, it's good to be thinking about what you'll be doing this summer.

So, this weekend's organizing idea is to start planning your summer!  Here are a few ideas to get you going :)

But before that, I wanted to announce the winner of the Blogiversary Giveaway!  Congratulations to Dara G on winning the $25 Target gift card and the 2 organizing ebooks!  Thanks to everyone who helped me celebrate 2 great years on the blog :)

OK, back to the post!

Last year I shared a Summer Ideas Brainstorming List printable that I created.  I'll be using it again in a few weeks with my kids.  You can download it for your family here.

Here are a few other ways you can get organized for summer!

{Note:  I've received permission to use these pictures.  If you'd like to share or pin these ideas, please do so from the original source.  If you'd like to pin this post, you can use one of my images above.  Thanks!}

1.  Set up a weekly routine so each day of the week you have something different you're doing for fun.  I did this last year and my kids loved the anticipation of what would happen each day!  Here's a free printable from Hi! It's Jilly! with some great ideas for each day of the week this summer.

2.  Create a {flexible} daily routine so you have some structure to your day.  It's great to be more relaxed in the summer, but kids are used to structure and thrive on knowing what's happening normally.  I like this idea from Annette at This Simple Home to use cards with all the day's activities and then be able to move them around if needed.  That way you can have a regular routine, but still change it up once in awhile.  She's included a printable for you to create your own cards here.

3.  Establish a cleaning or chore routine for your kids for the summer.  This helps them learn new skills and frees you up more to do fun things with them!  I know my kids didn't like the idea originally, but once they realized I was able to take them places or do other activities with them if they helped around the house, they were a little more motivated :)  Here are 4 different ways you can implement a chore system in your family from Lara at Overstuffed.

4.  If you're looking for ideas of things to do this summer, check out this post from Pam's Party and Practical Practical Tips, where she lists her kids' ideas!  They call it a Summer Fun Challenge.  I love that idea.  Sounds like it's going to be a fun summer at your house Pam!
