Day 8 - Cans {31 Cheap & Easy DIY Organizers}

Think you have to spend a lot of money on costly organizing tools to get your house in order?  Nope!  Getting organized doesn't have to be expensive!

Throughout this series I'm sharing ideas to help you organize your home by either

  • making simple organizers with things that don't cost very much OR
  • using items you already have in a different way.
If cost has been holding you back from getting organized, now you've got no more excuses!

Today I'm sharing ideas for using cans to get organized.  You probably have a bunch of these around your home and if not, you just need to save a few cans when you're making dinner the next few nights.  Or you can save small paint cans if you're doing any painting projects.  If you really want to do this right now, you probably have a few cans in your pantry with expired food in them that you could empty and use!

This post has been moved to my business website's blog: https://fromoverwhelmedtoorganized.com/day-8-cans-31-cheap-easy-diy-organizers/.

Please check it out there.

Happy organizing!

It's a top 10 list! Top 10 posts of 2013 :)

I'm still in Christmas mode as we've been celebrating with each of our families the last 3 days, and today is the first quiet day we'll have at home to enjoy some of our gifts (and put them away so I can get my living room and dining room back!).

But this time of year, leading up to the new year next week, always gets me thinking about the year that's ending.

2013 has been a great year on the blog!  I'm so excited when I look back on how this blog has grown this year.  That means more of you are finding and using the organizing tips I've shared, which makes me very happy.

And I've loved making new online friends this year!  It still amazes me how close I feel to people I've met online.  Our shared need for organization is a bond that ties us closely together!

Whether you're a new follower who started during the year, or have been a loyal reader all year, you may have missed some posts or could use reminders to help you start 2014 in an organized way.  So here's a top 10 list of posts from 2013 for you.

Command Centre: Schoolwork File Bins & Series Wrap-up

Command Centre: Schoolwork File Bins & Series Wrap-up | http://fromoverwhelmedtoorganized.blogspot.com

Is your kitchen table covered with piles of your kids' schoolwork?  Or maybe you have piles in the living room.  Or your kids’ bedrooms.  Somehow schoolwork seems to keep coming into our homes, and no matter how organized we think we are, it has a way of taking over.

Today I'll show you the system I implemented recently to help stay on top of all the work my kids take home from school.  I love it and it's made a huge difference in our home.

Command Centre: School Gear

Are mornings crazy at your house as everyone is rushing around trying to get everything they need for the day?  You know, things like lunches, homework, signed agendas, and money and permission forms for field trips.

To help make mornings less overwhelming, here are a few tips:

  1. Set up a place where everything is kept together.
  2. Do as much as you can the night before.
  3. Put together a routine for each person in the family to follow before and after school so everyone knows what is expected of them.

Organizing my kids' activity drawers

These are my kids' activity drawers and they are a MESS!  It's hard to find anything in them and even harder to put things back.  Things are just jammed in there.  And look at all the stuff on top that can't even fit inside.
