I'm Hilda and I blog from Mississauga, Ontario where I live with my husband and 2 children. I love my family and I love organizing our home and our lives!

I'm also a professional organizer and my mission is to help overwhelmed people feel organized.  I do that both in person with clients, and virtually through this blog.

How I Went From Organized... To Overwhelmed... To Organized Again

We've lived in a small townhouse since 1999.  I always kept our house and our lives quite organized.  But then we had kids.

When our son was born in 2004 and our daughter was born in 2006, we moved our office and then our spare room down to the basement, which also functions as a storage area, exercise room, and playroom. It can get chaotic down there!

I worked full-time until 2011 and chose to spend most of my non-working hours with my hubby and kids.  My hubby was a fantastic stay-at-home dad and took great care of our kids.  But during those years, I didn't keep our house as organized as I would have liked it.

And as my family grew and changed, our needs kept changing so often we outgrew the systems I did set up.  We also accumulated a lot of stuff during those years too.

I got overwhelmed trying to stay on top of everything. And a cluttered house led to a cluttered mind and life.

In 2012 we made the decision that my hubby and I would reverse roles and he would be the main bread-winner in our family instead of me.  That meant I could really get our house organized again.

Since then, I've been on a journey to simplify our lives through purging and organizing.  It's an ongoing process (kind of like laundry, housecleaning, and cooking... it never ends!), but I love how the organizing systems I've put in place have improved our lives.

About This Blog

At the same time I was organizing our home, I was introduced to several amazing organizing blogs.  I decided to start a blog to share my organizing journey and give tips to help others too.  I knew I wasn't the only overwhelmed person :)

And so, From Overwhelmed To Organized was born!  Initially I had no idea if anyone else would read this blog, but I'm so delighted and honoured that you do.  Your organizing journeys motivate me to keep sharing tips and ideas.

What else do you want to know about me?  Hmm... I love purple (as evidenced by the amount of purple on this blog!) and I adore chocolate... and ice cream... and brownies... oh and chocolate with ice cream and brownies!
