If you're new to From Overwhelmed To Organized, I don't normally post about healthy living.  In fact other than these last few posts about the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle, I've never posted about health at all.

I promise I'll get back to "regular" organizing posts after today!  I've got all kinds of decluttering and organizing posts planned for the new year!

Since the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle is only on sale for 2 days, I really want to make sure you all hear about it and don't miss out on this amazing opportunity.  So you get one more post about it today :)

The Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle - 2 day sale!

Do you set goals every January?  We're often recharged after the holidays and ready to change our lives in the new year.  It's a fresh start!  A clean slate.  So many possibilities.

But if you're anything like me, some of your goals are actually goals you set last year, but didn't fully achieve.  Many people make new year's resolutions and give up on them by mid-January!

So we make the same resolutions again the next year.  And the next.  And the next.

Especially when it comes to our health.

Have you heard that definition of insanity?  Doing the same things but expecting different results?!  Yep... that's how many of us are when it comes to new year's resolutions.  Myself included.

I recently read this: The only way to get somewhere you haven’t gone before is to do something you haven’t done before.

Sounds easy right?!

But even if you know you need to do something different to achieve your goals, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and intimidated by the flood of information out there…what should you be listening to? It’s not easy to know and it’s even harder to find the right information. And so we’re frozen into complete inaction instead!

That’s where the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle comes in — a complete and curated collection of the best eBooks and eCourses to give you all the best practices, tips, tools and resources you will ever need to solve any health challenge you or your family want to overcome!

The Easy Button for Healthy Living

How many times have you “tried harder” to improve your health?  How many times have you “tried harder” than the last time, only to fail again?  You probably beat yourself up afterwards. You probably told yourself that if you just tried harder the next time around, you’d succeed.

Here’s a secret: no you wouldn’t.  Trying harder has never been your issue.  Instead, you should be trying different.  Trying simpler.

Most people over-complicate the process of improving their health. They think the silver bullet is in the complexity, in the personal trainers, in the protein shakes, in the gym memberships.
But it’s actually the opposite. The silver bullet is in you. In the knowledge you have. In the decisions you make. In the consistency you achieve.

In a few days, you're going to have an amazing opportunity to make things simpler for improving your health in 2015. It will make improving your health a no-brainer.

Update: The sale is now live!  Click here for all the details!

What Do Your Loved Ones Think? {4 Steps to Your Healthiest Year}

Last week I told you I'm going to set some goals in 2015 to help me live a healthier life.  I know it may seem strange to see posts about health on an organizing blog, but as I mentioned, whenever I take on a challenge, I do it in an organized way!  I know there are others who will make resolutions to be healthier in 2015 and I want to help you be organized in your journey to health as well.

I also told you about a 4-Day Healthy Living Challenge and invited you to join me.  I can tell from the tracking code that no one has signed up yet :(  I'm hoping it's just the time of year and that you'll still be joining me in the new year as I take steps to being healthier.  I received several comments and emails that indicated you'd be jumping in in January too!

But, I wanted to reach out to you again and invite you to join me now.  Here's why.

Day 11 - Preparing Holiday Meals {12 Days of Being Organized for the Holidays}

Last week I shared tips to help you plan a holiday meal, with the goal of being prepared ahead of time so you can spend time with your guests.

Today, I want to take that even one step further, and share tips for being organized on the actual day of the meal, so you can really enjoy yourself that day, instead of being overwhelmed in your kitchen the whole time.

We Did It! So Can You! {Year-end edition}

Do you have clutter in your home but don't know where to start purging?  Do you feel like you don't have enough time to declutter?  Have you seen all the 365 Items in 365 Days posts and thought "I really should do that", but you keep putting it off?

You're not alone!  But you also don't need to stay in your paralyzed state.  You CAN declutter!  And to prove it I want to share some stories of people Just. Like. You.

Welcome back to the "We Did It! So Can You!" series.  This series is about real people decluttering their homes, one day at a time!  Busy people, with too much stuff, who decided to take the plunge and purge.

Today I want to highlight a couple of people who have been actively participating in this challenge all year.  And some comments from various members of the 365 Items in 365 Days Facebook group about what the challenge has meant to them this year.

Ready to be inspired?!

Day 10 - Planning for Holiday Meals {12 Days of Being Organized for the Holidays}

Are you having guests over for Christmas dinner?  Do you get overwhelmed with preparing a big meal for extra people and with foods you may not make on a regular basis?  If you get to the end of your holiday gathering and you're exhausted, and you feel like you haven't spent any time with your guests, and you never want to host another holiday dinner, then you need this post :)

Today I'm sharing a few tips to help you plan for any holiday meals you'll be serving.  Some of them may be things you already do and some may be new ideas. But hopefully having these tips all in one place, just before your holiday dinners, will help you be super prepared and be able to enjoy your time with your guests, rather than having a meltdown in your kitchen!

How to Avoid Failure in 2015

Rewind back to January of 2014... you probably made plans way back then for yourself. Maybe you even made some new year’s resolutions.

If you're like a lot of people, you promised to improve and transform yourself…to be in better health, to be in better shape, to live a longer life. Am I right?!

Now fast-forward back to the present and think about where you are right now. Are you where you wanted to be?

If you are, then give yourself a big ole' pat on the back and celebrate!  That's awesome!

If you aren't, don't be discouraged.  I've been there many times myself!  In fact I'm there right now.  Which is the reason I'm writing this :)

As you may know, if you've read my monthly goal updates this past year, I set some goals to help me live a healthier life.  But, you may also remember that I haven't been great at keeping those goals consistently, especially when life gets busy.  And it shows in my energy level, weight, and overall health.

So, I'm planning to make healthy living a priority for 2015.

Day 9 - Making Room for the New {12 Days of Being Organized for the Holidays}

Do you ever feel overwhelmed when you think about all the new "stuff" that will be entering your home during the holidays?  Those with kids are often especially overwhelmed.  New toys, clothes, books, and games from generous grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  Not to mention your own gifts to your children, and of course those from the jolly red-dressed guy!

If you already feel like your home is cluttered, the thought of adding more to your home can be stifling.  But it doesn't have to be that way!

Today I'm sharing a few tips to help simplify your holidays by decluttering.  {It just wouldn't be a series on organizing if I didn't discuss decluttering right?!}

Today, I want to share one of the very simple recipes we make every year for Christmas.  It's a holiday version of shortbread.  And when I say simple... I mean it!

You can read more about Giving Tuesday here:

And this video summarizes it really well:

It's December!  It's the beginning of a new month and that means a Monthly Family Goals printable for you!

December is one of my favourite months of the year.  Of course Christmas is in December so there are lots of holiday festivities and gatherings.  And my birthday is also in December!

But December is always a really busy month, so it's extra important to take some time at the beginning of the month to think about the month ahead and set some goals.  Otherwise, time will fly by and at the end of the month you'll feel like you were always busy, but not necessarily doing things you wanted to do.

So, use the December goals printable to help you live more intentionally this month!  You'll be glad you did :)

Day 1: Planning for Christmas {12 Days of Being Organized for the Holidays}

Do you get overwhelmed during November and December?  Do you get to the end of Christmas Day and you're exhausted and wonder if it was all worth it?  There's shopping, baking, wrapping, card-writing, cooking, and decorating.  All in the midst of parties, gatherings, and celebrations with everyone and anyone you've had contact with all year!  It's a lot to juggle.  And it can easily become overwhelming.

But it doesn't have to be that way.  With some advance planning and organizing, you can simplify the holidays and get things done earlier, so you can breathe and actually enjoy this festive season.  Doesn't that sound good?

To help you do that, I'm going to be writing a series called 12 Days of Being Organized for the Holidays.  Each of the 12 posts will focus on one aspect of being organized for this special time of year.  I'll spread the posts out over the next 6 weeks, with an average of 2 posts per week.

Each post will have practical tasks you can to get organized.  If you've already completed those tasks {good for you!!}, feel free to do something else that's overwhelming you.  If you haven't checked these items off your to-do list yet, then spend some time working on them so you won't have to do everything all at once at the end.

OK, so now that I've told you about the series, let's get to today's post!  I'm going to kick this series off with some tips to help you plan out the next few weeks.

5 Tips for Organizing a "Real Life" Garage

Is your garage cluttered and overwhelming?  Has it become a dumping ground for anything that doesn't have a home anywhere else?

Now, be honest, do you avoid organizing your garage because you can't afford those fancy garage organizers you see on Pinterest and in magazines?

There are some mighty beautiful garages out there.  I'm happy for those people who have them.  But most of us have plain ole' ordinary garages.  Sure, we can do some things to pretty them up, but they're still not going to be magazine worthy.  But they don't need to be beautiful.  We don't live in our garages.  We store things in them.  And hopefully have space to park a vehicle in them.  If we have limited funds for organizing, more often than not we'd rather spend those dollars inside our homes, where we spend more time.

Having a "real life" garage doesn't mean it has to be unorganized though!  I've got about as ugly a garage as you can get... you'll see in the pictures.  But I do my best to keep it organized.  And I just use basic stuff to do it.

Introducing the "New" From Overwhelmed To Organized!

If you've read any posts in the last 3-4 weeks, you've probably noticed things look a little bit different around here than they did before.  While working on the 31 {Cheap & Easy} DIY Organizers series last month, I was also busy working with a designer on a new look for the blog!

There wasn't really anything "wrong" with the old design.  It had been the way it was for about a year, after I made some changes to the menu and some changes to the sidebar last fall.  Both of those changes were a big improvement over how it was before.

But as the blog continued to grow, and new people started reading it, I found it was getting challenging for people to navigate their way around and to find posts that applied to a particular need.  I really wanted a drop-down menu.  I also wanted my social media icons to be easily accessible in the header, rather than lost in the sidebar.

So, today I want to take you on a little tour of the "new" From Overwhelmed to Organized!

Day 23 - Repurposed Furniture {31 Cheap and Easy DIY Organizers}

Before I start today's post, I want to acknowledge what happened in Ottawa yesterday.  Canada is, and always will be a peaceful nation.  Which is why the violence yesterday shocked us to our core.  But what was meant to increase fear and hatred, has only made us stronger and more united.  My prayers are for the family and friends of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo.  Thank you to all men and women who serve and protect our country every day.  I'm so proud to be a Canadian.
