365 Items in 365 Days Challenge: March Update

How are you doing in the 365 Items in 365 Days Declutter Challenge?  It's the 90th day of the year today so your target is to have purged 90 items by now.  But don't worry if you're behind ... there's still lots of time to declutter!

Our 365 Items in 365 Days Facebook group continues to grow!  I'm adding new people daily and many of them are friends of people who are already in the group.  That tells me you're not only doing a good job decluttering your homes, you're also encouraging others to declutter theirs!

If you haven't joined yet, click here and ask to join and I'll add you.  It's a great way to be encouraged by others who are decluttering and find motivation to continue when you're feeling discouraged.

Today I want to share what I've been decluttering this month, which hopefully will give you some ideas too!

Simple Living: Doesn't That Sound Great?!

Simple Living: 30 Days to Less Stuff and More Life... Doesn't that sound wonderful?!

I just finished reading this eBook by Lorilee Lippincott and it really resonated with me.  This is one of my favourite quotes:

The purpose of de-cluttering our lives is to make space for enjoying what we love.  When everything else is out of the way, not tripping us or taking up our time and energy, we have time for what we love and value.

Doesn't that sound beautiful?  Even with all the decluttering I've done as part of the 365 Items in 365 Days Challenge, it's always good to be reminded on why I'm doing it.  If you want a simpler life, read on!

3 Tips for Organizing Your Refrigerator

Last week I shared tips to help you organize your freezer.  Hopefully they helped you get your freezer looking spiffy and super organized!  Today, I'm moving on to the refrigerator.

Fridges take a beating don't they?  Food is being taken out and put back in over and over every single day by different family members.  It's no wonder fridges get messy and unorganized!

And then you can't remember what you have, so you buy more salad dressing and then find out you already have 3 open bottles of the same one.  Or leftover food gets shoved to the back and forgotten about... until your nose reminds you one day that a science experiment is growing in there.

It doesn't have to be this way though!  With a little organization, you'll be able to easily find what you're looking for and family members will know where to put things back.  That will help keep your fridge organized, which will save you time and money.  Gotta love that!

Just like with the freezer organizing tips, you'll be able to apply these refrigerator organizing tips whether you have a side-by-side fridge, a bottom-loading fridge, or a top-loading fridge.  I've got bottom-loading fridge, so these pictures will show that, but the principles are transferable.

Coming on Monday: All Organized eBook Bundle Sale

Happy 1st day of Spring!  There's still snow on the ground here and the temps are a wee bit chilly.  But I just noticed a teeny tiny little green thing poking out of the ground where the snow has melted... which means my bulbs know it's spring at least!

We just finished a huge clean-up of our home last week in preparation for my son's 10th birthday party.  I like having a clean house, but I just don't like actually cleaning.  So when we have the entire house clean at the same time it's a pretty amazing feeling.

But I know I still need to do some spring cleaning for those deep down tasks that only need to be done once in awhile.  And you know I'm always decluttering, but there's something about spring that makes me want to declutter and organize even more!  Fun times ahead :)

If you're planning to do any spring cleaning and organizing in the next few weeks, I know you'll be just as excited as I am about what's coming up on Monday!

2 Tips for Organizing Your Freezer

I'm baaack!!  After a short blogging break due to illness and March Break, I'm back today with more kitchen organizing tips for you!  We're all pretty much over our various sicknesses, and the kids managed to have a pretty good break from school.  Of course, for them, any break from school is good :)

Today I'm sharing tips to help you organize your freezer.  Whether you have a side-by-side freezer, a freezer above your fridge, or a freezer drawer below your fridge, you'll be able to apply these general tips.  I've got a freezer above my fridge, so the pictures will be from that, but the principles are transferable.

The Series Is On Hold... Again?!

Wondering where I've been the last week and a half?  Missing my kitchen organizing tips?  Or have you been so busy organizing that you didn't notice I haven't posted anything lately?

I mentioned previously that I've been helping my parents and a colleague prepare their homes for selling.  Last week I spent a day helping my parents work with a stager to make decisions about how to make their home look amazing to potential buyers.  I would have helped with more packing and cleaning but then...

The Secret for Organizing Food Storage Containers so They Stay Organized

The Secret for Organizing Food Storage Containers so They Stay Organized | fromoverwhelmedtoorganized.blogspot.com

Is your food storage containers cupboard an avalanche waiting to happen?  Can you easily find what you need when you need it?  Do you have unmatched tops and bottoms?
The Secret for Organizing Food Storage Containers so They Stay Organized | fromoverwhelmedtoorganized.blogspot.com

One of the most difficult cabinets or drawers to keep organized in any kitchen is often the Tupperware/plasticware/leftover containers zone.  Even when you take time to neatly nest containers and organize the lids, it typically doesn't last.  When containers are used and washed and ready to be put away, who takes the time to put them back as neatly as they were before?  Most people toss them in and run.  It doesn't take long to become an overwhelming mess!

Want to know the secret to maintaining an organized food storage containers zone?  Read on!
