I'm Back!! And Kicking off a Photo Decluttering Challenge :)

So it's been awhile... how ya been? I've been a wee bit busy the last few months. OK crazy busy. We moved this summer which pretty much took over my life. Tons of time spent searching for a place, preparing our old house to sell, decluttering, living in a "show-ready" home for 6 weeks (I've never cleaned my house so much in my life!), packing, decluttering, moving, unpacking, more decluttering, renovating, getting the kids settled into new schools and routines, more decluttering. You get the picture.

Even as a professional organizer, who has been decluttering our home for over 5 years, and who helps other people with their moves, it's been a lot of work.

So blogging kept getting bumped further down my to-do list. Sorry about that! I've missed you all :)

I've still been hanging around in the 365 Items in 365 Days Facebook Group, cheering on all the great decluttering that's been happening there. I love how everyone in the group cheers each other on when they make progress in their decluttering efforts!

31 Day Photo Decluttering Challenge

I'll write some posts later with tips for an organized move and fill you in on more of my story the last few months.

But for today, I wanted to pop in and let you know about an exciting challenge I'm going to be running for the month of October.

It's called the 31 Day Photo Decluttering Challenge! Each day in October I will share tips to help you declutter your digital and printed photos. And throughout the month we'll actually be decluttering our photos. I'll be working right alongside all of you, decluttering my photos.

You'll be able to choose whether you want to tackle your printed photos (old albums, scrapbooks, boxes of loose photos, framed pictures, etc.) or your digital photos (on your phones, tablets, laptops, old computers, hard-drives, etc.). You can even work on both if you want.

You can also set your own goal for how much photo decluttering you want to do throughout the month, based on your collection and the time you have available to spend on this challenge. The idea is to work on a bit every day, just like the 365 Items in 365 Days challenge, so that it's not overwhelming. By the end of October all your photo decluttering efforts will add up and you will have decluttered a lot!

I'll have more details on October 1st. But for now, start thinking about what photos you'd like to declutter and how much time you can devote to this challenge.

I look forward to having you join me in the 31 Day Photo Decluttering Challenge!

Which photos do you think you want to focus on ... printed or digital? How many photos do you have? I'll share my starting numbers in a few days... they're pretty scary!

Happy decluttering and organizing!

  2. Brilliant timing. I just bought myself a new laptop and have been transferring all my old photos onto it from my old laptop, memory cards, phone etc. I now have thousands of digital photos to wade through! I've also just joined a photography club, so desperately need to get organised.

    1. That's great timing! It's amazing how many photos accumulate when we put them all in one place. Happy decluttering this month :)

  3. I just have digital photos to declutter. On a hard drive and on my computer. I started decluttering both and have already deleted hundreds of photos but I've been wanting to start over and be even more minimalist about what I keep. I've been putting it off so this is perfect timing. I'm excited to follow along for motivation!

  4. Where do I sign up? Decluttered my clothes and decided sort out the bedside table. Found so many packets of print photos (doubled up of course!) which have never been put in albums. I realise I'm too late for this challenge but maybe I can catch up a bit?
