365 Items in 365 Days: January/February Update

How are you doing in the 365 Items in 365 Days Declutter Challenge?  It's the 49th day of the year today so if you started in January, your target is to have purged 49 items by now.  But don't worry if you've just started.  Just jump in!  It's always a good time to declutter :)

Today I'll be sharing what I've decluttered since my last update in December.  As you know I was down and out for most of January, so I didn't do a lot of decluttering, but I will work extra hard next month to catch up with my average of 1 item per day goal!  Oh, and this doesn't count for me personally, but in the last few weeks I've helped my clients declutter approximately 5 giant bags of recycling, 8 bags of garbage, 6 boxes of donations, plus a bunch of large items for garbage, donation, or giveaway.  I love my job :)

By doing these monthly updates I hope to give you ideas of things you can purge from your home!

Day 9 - Making Room for the New {12 Days of Being Organized for the Holidays}

Do you ever feel overwhelmed when you think about all the new "stuff" that will be entering your home during the holidays?  Those with kids are often especially overwhelmed.  New toys, clothes, books, and games from generous grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  Not to mention your own gifts to your children, and of course those from the jolly red-dressed guy!

If you already feel like your home is cluttered, the thought of adding more to your home can be stifling.  But it doesn't have to be that way!

Today I'm sharing a few tips to help simplify your holidays by decluttering.  {It just wouldn't be a series on organizing if I didn't discuss decluttering right?!}

Day 6 - Holiday Traditions {12 Days of Being Organized for the Holidays}

Do you have traditions you do every year during the holidays?  Favourite movies to watch, books to read, songs to listen to, foods to eat, places to go, etc.?  Christmas traditions are wonderful!  They hold fond memories and we anticipate them all year.

But it can be overwhelming trying to juggle all those traditions sometimes.  Which makes it hard to enjoy them!  In today's post I'll share tips to help you find time to enjoy all your favourite holiday traditions.

Day 4 - Electronics/Entertainment Organizers {31 Cheap & Easy DIY Organizers}

Think you have to spend a lot of money on costly organizing tools to get your house in order?  Nope!  Getting organized doesn't have to be expensive!

Throughout this series I'm sharing ideas to help you organize your home by either

  • making simple organizers with things that don't cost very much OR
  • using items you already have in a different way.
If cost has been holding you back from getting organized, now you've got no more excuses!

Today I want to show you some ideas for how to organize your electronics and entertainment items.  Things like chargers, cords, ear buds, and DVD's can become overwhelming if they aren't organized.  They can get misplaced, tangled, or just plain mixed up, and it's frustrating when you need to use a specific item and can't easily do that.
