Christmas Packing List {Free Printable}

Are you traveling during the Christmas holidays?  Many people have family gatherings, visits with friends, or vacations while school's out.

I don't know about you, but whether I'm going somewhere just for the day or overnight or for a whole week, I seem to have a lot to pack!  Especially since we had kids.  Sometimes I feel like we're staying for a week when we're just going to someone's house for the day :)

During the holidays there's even more to remember with gifts and special food to bring along wherever we go.  {If you missed it, here are 8 tips for packing gifts when traveling}

With how busy the season is, it's easy to forget to pack something!  And, there's nothing worse than having to be somewhere by a certain time, but leaving late because you're rushing around, trying to remember everything at the last minute.

It can get overwhelming!

So, to make life easier for you {and me!}, I've put together a printable Christmas packing list.

As an example, here's one I filled in.  It's for a fictitious family with young kids, traveling about a half-day car-ride away, staying overnight at Grandma and Grandpa's house on Christmas Eve.

Here are a few ways you can use this printable:

  1. For a day trip - Print a copy of this list for each occasion and plan ahead of time what you need to remember to bring along to each one.  We sometimes have several back-to-back-to-back family gatherings around Christmas so writing my lists ahead of time is a life-saver!
  2. For an overnight visit - Print this list and record everything you will need as you think of it.  You can even pack bags ahead of time so all you have to do is add last minute items.
  3. For a longer vacation - Use one list per family member so you have space to jot down individual needs for each person.  Depending on the age of everyone, maybe some people can pack their own belongings and check them off your lists.  Saves you time and energy!  And who doesn't need more of that during the holidays right?!
  4. To re-use this every year - Laminate your list and use a dry erase marker to write on it.

Tip:  After you've filled in your list, get out some bags or bins and start to gather the items you need as you come across them in the days leading up to your trip.  It will save you time later.

Yay!  You can breathe a little easier with this holiday packing list and hopefully enjoy your holidays more :)
