Day 18 - Displaying Artwork {31 Cheap & Easy DIY Organizers}

Think you have to spend a lot of money on costly organizing tools to get your house in order?  Nope!  Getting organized doesn't have to be expensive!

Throughout this series I'm sharing ideas to help you organize your home by either

  • making simple organizers with things that don't cost very much OR
  • using items you already have in a different way.
If cost has been holding you back from getting organized, now you've got no more excuses!

One thing that clutters up a home quicker than anything is kids' artwork.  All their creations are beautiful and it's hard to purge any of them.  But one way to show how special some of them are is to display them in your home.

Today I'm sharing cheap and easy DIY ideas for displaying kids' artwork.

  • Here's a DIY magnetic art board using sheet metal covered in fabric.  I've also seen these using an old cookie sheet.  Then just add some fun magnets and your kids' special pieces!

Organizing Made Fun

  • This magnetic board is made using a metal screen door grille.  It could be used as a bulletin board or to display artwork.

My Turn For Us

  • Here's one using wood and some clothespins.  The full tutorial is in the link below the picture.

This, That & Life on I Heart Organizing

I love that these ideas are all pure DIY projects.  Using some creativity and a variety of supplies, each one becomes a beautiful way to display those special art projects your kids bring home!

  1. This is something I really struggle with. I have very prolific artists for children, LOL! I have something like the clothespins, my problem is remembering to change it out. And their artwork is becoming very large as they get older! I have a few 16x20 pieces now.

    One of my friends uses her stairwell as an artwork gallery. She frames their best pieces each year and hangs them in the stairwell. I love the idea, but have not implemented it.

    1. Artwork is definitely a challenge for those of us trying to reduce clutter in our homes isn't it Lara?! I find my kids are bringing less home now than when they were little, so that's helping. I like the stairwell gallery idea. I think it just needs to be something simple so it's easy to maintain. For me anyway :)

  2. I need something for my office! I never thought of a cookie sheet covered in fabric! Thanks!

    1. You're welcome Ali! Good luck finding a good solution for your office!
