Day 9 - Necklace Organizers {31 Cheap & Easy DIY Organizers}

Think you have to spend a lot of money on costly organizing tools to get your house in order?  Nope!  Getting organized doesn't have to be expensive!

Throughout this series I'm sharing ideas to help you organize your home by either

  • making simple organizers with things that don't cost very much OR
  • using items you already have in a different way.
If cost has been holding you back from getting organized, now you've got no more excuses!

Today I'm sharing ideas for organizing your necklaces.  If you've got them in jewelry boxes or drawers, it's easy for them to get tangled.  And it's hard to see what you have.  Hanging organizers tend to be the best solution.  You can buy a variety of jewelry organizers, but why do that when you can DIY one yourself?

Here are some cheap and easy ways you can create your own necklace organizer.

  • This is a simple DIY organizer for necklaces (as well as other jewelry) made from things you probably have around your house (cardboard tubes, ribbon, scrap material, etc.).  You can tailor it specifically for the size of your necklaces and even add more tubes depending on the size of your collection.  Cheap and easy.  Love it.

  • This is a really flexible necklace organizer because you can also use it for other hanging items like belts.  It's just clothespins glued on a board!  If you don't have any of these kinds of clothespins around you can usually find them at dollar stores.

Power Tools & High Heels

  • Here's a cheap and easy thinking outside the box idea for necklaces - a key rack!  It makes a great necklace holder.

  • I don't wear very much jewelry so I don't have any great organizing ideas to show you from my home.  But I have used a row of command hooks for a client's necklaces.  She had a pretty necklace stand on her dresser but we wanted to have her dresser clear while she was selling her home.  She didn't want to put any new holes in her walls, so command hooks were the perfect solution.

What I love most about all of these ideas is they maximize the vertical space in your bedroom or closet.  They don't take up drawer space or clutter up your dresser.  And you can easily see everything so you can wear your jewelry more often.  And of course, they are all cheap and easy organizing solutions :)
